We went beyond the manga and the geisha. And we showed a Japan made of music, kiriko and lots of creativity

Chosen as the venue for the 2020 Olympics, Tokyo has taken advantage of Rio 2016 Olympics to spread a little of its culture. For 20 days, the Imperial Palace was the House of Japan in Rio. The program counted on Tokyo Caravan, an integration project between Japanese and Brazilian artists, and Turn exhibition, with works produced by Brazilian Nisei, Japanese and co-created with visitors.

ACTIVATION

TOKYO CARAVAN

The band Tokyo Sky Paradise and the theater actor Noh, Reijirou Tsumura, were some of the attractions.

TURN+KIRIKO

Curated by Jum Nakao, some Japanese art workshops were promoted. The kirikos, made from clipping on paper, conquered the public. Considered good luck amulets, they were also used to decorate the windows of the facade of the Palace.
